Lucayan to complete his hat-trick in the St. James´s Palace Stakes at Ascot
The Group 1 St. James´s Palace Stakes at the Royal Ascot meet is anxiously awaited because of the line-up of magnificent runners the mega-event has reeled in.
The 1 mile race will take place on 19th June, 2012, where the runners will compete for £167,295.
The Nile and Lucayan are of particular interest, and chances are that they will crush the competition under their hooves, and make their way to the front. The only question is, which one of two has what it takes to win?
Lucayan, son of Turtle Bowl, out of mare La Vltava, has three victories and two finishes as a runner-up in his record of five starts, with two consecutive victories under his belt the runner is ready to complete his hat-trick.
The three-year-old landed a Group 1 victory in the Poule D'Essai Des Poulains at Longchamp on 13th May, 2012, where he narrowly claimed the victory over the B. De Montzey trained, Veneto, by a small margin of a short-neck over
a distance of 1 mile.
The young runner has all the potential in the world, as he brings an unmatched pace to the track and will bring everything to the table.
On the other hand, The Nile, has competed in three starts, and claimed a placed finish in each one.
Trained by John Gosden, the runner’s capability should not be under-estimated, since he has exhibited his potential and is determined to add another victory to his record.
The son of Three Valleys, out of mare Delta, raced as a favourite in the 1 mile Mirror Punters Club Median Auction Maiden Stakes at Lingfield on 1st May, 2012, where he finished first by an immense margin of 11 lengths before
Mahmood Al Zarooni’s charge, Zaeem.
Breaking out of post 3, the bay colt will be mounted by jockey William Buick.
Based on prior experience, the victory will be downed by the A. Mouknass owned Lucayan. He has done it before, and will perform an encore if required.
He will ride under the command of jockey, Stephane Pasquier, who guided him to two of his three victories.
