Lucho Gonzalez discusses his future at Olympique de Marseille – Ligue 1 news
Linked with a move away from the Stade Velodrome throughout the summer transfer window, Argentine international Lucho Gonzalez chose to stay with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127.
The commanding playmaker made a good start to the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 season for Les Phoceens despite his side’s abysmal start to the campaign. However, the 30-year-old has fallen down the pecking order in recent weeks due to his failure to adapt to the 4-4-2
formation adapted by coach Didier Deschamps.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 man saw his side win three consecutive Ligue 1 games but was absent each time from the starting line up.
Reports now suggest that the Argentine is now looking for a move away from the Rhone club in order to get more first team opportunities.
In an interview hosted by the official website of Olympique de Marseille, Lucho played down rumours of differences between him and Deschamps.
“This is the decision of the coach. He decided the team that will play. We are professionals and we respect his decisions. If he decides not to play me, I have to prove in training that he is mistaken. There are many matches and the coach must make changes
because you can’t play every game,” said the midfielder when asked about his new role as a substitute at the club.
However, when asked about his relationship with Deschamps, El Comandante gave a cold and distant response by saying that these things are normal for a player and coach. Gonzalez said that he is willing to play in the new formation and further elaborated
that he is not at all worried about where he has to play.
Lucho also took some time out to hit out at media that has been criticising him from all quarters.
“It’s normal in football. There are people who love the way I play and others don’t. I can’t change people who don’t like my style. The most important thing for me is to give everything to my mates and team. I do not play for a note in the press,” said Gonzalez
thus making it clear that he is not at all fazed or dazed by media’s harsh criticism at him.
Gonzalez also said that he is willing to respect his contract at the club and said that only if Marseille are interested in selling him, he will move to a new chapter in his career.
With Olympique de Marseille still looking to cut short on their losses, it seems that by the end of the current campaign or even during the upcoming winter transfer window, Gonzalez might be sold to a club.
With an annual salary of 4.2 million Euros, Lucho is one of the top earners in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 but Marseille will be looking to offload the player to a club that can meet the South American’s wage demands.
