The former Marseille midfielder has launched a stunning attack on Les Phoceens blaming the club’s management for their recent demise.
After playing for two and half years for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127, Lucho Gonzalez left the club. During his stay, the South American made eighty seven appearances for Les Phoceens. The Argentine international helped Marseille to win the Championelle in 2010 after a long wait of eighteen years.
While talking to reporters, the former Marseille midfielder hit out at his former club. The Argentinean voiced his opinion over the recent demise of nine-time French champions. Mentioning the time when he arrived at Marseille, Gonzales claimed that back then there was a hunger in the team to win big things.
Lucho Gonzalez blamed the club’s management as he feels they have failed to solve the issues between sporting director and the coach of the club. The former Marseille talisman criticised the disputes and disagreements in the management.
“The problem is that the coach and management do not enjoy the best of relationships. There are disputes, disagreements, and it affects the players’ performance on the field.”
According to Le Parisien, the former Marseille midfielder lashed out at his critics who blamed the Argentinean for problems at L’OM during his time there. Disagreements with the management lead to the termination of Lucho Gonzalez’s contract at the Rhone giants.
Lucho Gonzalez slammed his former team mates as well who are playing individually as he feels that the squad has lost its identity. The Argentinean highlighted the fact that certain attributes like attitude and behaviour of players cannot be changed.
The midfielder drew a comparison of his former club, Marseille with his current club, Porto.
In Porto, the mentality is to build a group of players for three or four years according to Gonzalez.
“In Marseille when I arrived, there was a similar project, with a new coach. Things have not turned out as they should have. The initial project fell into the water”
Just after few days of Jean-Claude Dassier’s scathing attack on Deschamps and Labrune, such words from a former Marseille player are ill-timed to say the least. A woeful campaign and such remarks paint a sorry picture of a season that is considered as one of the worst campaigns in the club’s history.
