Lucho Gonzalez on the verge of signing for Arsenal FC – Ligue 1 report
Reports in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 midfielder Lucho Gonzalez is one the verge of signing English Premier League side Arsenal FC as manager Arsene Wenger seeks to find a replacement for Cesc Fabregas who left the London-based
club for La Liga giants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
The 30-year-old Argentine international has been linked with a move away from the Stade Velodrome for a very long time. Initially, the former FC Porto man was linked with a move to La Liga side Malaga but a concrete offer never came as Marseille were unwilling
to let go of their midfielder for anything less than 10 million Euros.
Gonzalez also attracted interest from Italian Serie A side AS Roma but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 in the summer
of 2009.
According to reports, Arsenal initially tried to bring the South American on loan but Marseille are only willing to let go of Lucho on a permanent basis. Reports now suggest that El Comandante might be joining Arsene Wenger’s side by the 31st
August.
According to Le Parisien, the Albiceleste player is also attracted by the prospect of joining Arsenal and is also willing to review his wages at Marseille. Lucho Gonzalez is reportedly earning 400,000 Euros per month at the Rhone club and is willing to take
a pay cut in order to experience football in the English Premier League for the first time in his career.
However, it still remains to be seen whether Arsene Wenger will be willing to splash 10 million Euros for the 30-year-old or not as Arsenal’s policy of spending money on young players does not allow the acquisition of players over 28 or 30.
Arsenal are already under a lot of pressure following their defeat at home in the English Premier League encounter against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 earlier this week. The Gunners lost the game 2-0 and it was clearly evident that Arsene Wenger needs to spend some money
to bring in an experienced player to the set-up.
A move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 on a permanent basis would also be suitable for Marseille as the club is desperate lower the burden on its payroll.
