Lucho Gonzalez set to leave http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 – French Ligue 1 news
Reports in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 suggest that Argentine International, Lucho Gonzalez, currently on the books of Ligue 1 giants Olympique de Marseille, is set to leave the Rhone clubs. The former FC Porto man will be officially announcing his decision after meeting with
club president, Jean-Claude Dassier later this week. French sports magazine L’Equipe, suggests that the midfielder had already made his decision before the end of the season.
Lucho joined Olympique de Marseille for 18 million Euros from Portuguese giants, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186, a club record fee. In the 2010/11 season, he has scored 10 goals in the league but has had his fair share of critics, a major factor that is now being rumoured to
have contributed to his decision to leave Les Phoceens. Gonzalez’s decision to leave Stade Velodrome comes after his compatriot http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gabriel-Heinze-c14310 stated his desire to leave the club last week.
Reports suggest that Olympique de Marseille would allow Lucho http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gonzalez-c15099 to leave for a fee in the region of 13 million Euros, 5 million less than what Marseille paid when they signed Gonzalez. Furthermore, OM are looking to finalise Gonzalez’s transfer at
the earliest as they look to avoid the same situation that they encountered last summer when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mamadou-Niang-c23292 decided to quit the club only days before the start of the 2010/11 Ligue 1 season.
Earlier this month, Serie A sides, AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603, Juventus and Fiorentina were linked with a move for the influential playmaker. However, it has now been reported that La Liga side Malaga CF are also keen on signing the South American. Malaga survived the relegation
fight in La Liga this season after some impressive performances in the last few games. Los Boquerones, under president Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani, are now looking to make the club a force to be reckoned with ahead of the 2011/12 La Liga campaign. Furthermore,
the Qatari businessman and billionaire is willing to splash the cash for players that would help the club achieve its ambitious dreams.
Leaving Marseille would not affect Lucho Gonzalez much as the 30-year-old has a lot of suitors in Europe who are willing to satisfy his wage demands, something that Olympique de Marseille might not have been able to do for long as the club is now looking
to reduce the burden on its payroll.
