Lucho Gonzalez to leave http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 on a cheap next year – Ligue 1 news
Reports in French media suggest that Ligue 1 giants Olympique de Marseille star Lucho Gonzalez might be available at a cheap price next season.
The recent news comes in as a great surprise after the 30-year-old was linked with a move away from the Stade Velodrome throughout the entirety of this summer’s transfer window. Italian Serie A giants AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 and AC Milan were linked with a move for the
influential playmaker but the neither of the two sides came up with a concrete offer for the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 man.
The direction of Les Phoceens which for a few months was keen on offloading the player has now apparently changed its mind and is now considering keeping hold of the man they splashed 18 million Euros for when they signed him from FC Porto in the summer
of 2009.
With the club going through tough economic times, Les Phoceens were looking to sell Lucho in order to reduce the burden on their payroll. However, none of Lucho’s suitor agreed with Marseille’s valuation of the Argentine international.
Though Jose Anigo knows selling Lucho Gonzalez in the current transfer window would be a better option, the sporting director has now changed his stance over the Argentine’s future.
Coach Didier Deschamps’ assistant Guy Stephan is also happy to see the player staying at the club and said, “Lucho s here. This Sunday (Vs Auxerre), he was les bright than in the game against Sochaux but he is in a good mood and I see him working with a
smile during training.”
Marseille were looking for at least ten million Euros from the sale of Gonzalez but no club was willing to pay that much for the midfielder.
However, a clause on Lucho Gonzalez’s contract says that if he decides to play one more season for the Rhone club, he could benefit from a release clause during the summer of 2012. The clause further indicates any club that’s willing to sign the former River
Plate man will have to pay just four million Euros next summer which would mean a great bargain for any club that signs him.
