Lucian Bute clarifies ambition, Andrade fight, possible Jean Pascal meet
One of IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute’s primary ambitions in boxing is to not lose a single round.  So far, he’s doing a pretty good job.
In a recent interview with boxing.fanhouse, Bute confirmed the ambitions that have seen him to a world championship.  He also clarified questions regarding a 2008 bout with Librado Andrade, and spoke about the possibility of a bout with unified light heavyweight
champion and fellow Montrealer Jean Pascal.
“My first goal in boxing was to become a world champion,” Bute said. “That's why I always prepare myself right. I want to win every minute of every round. I don't want to give anything up, and I don't want to give anyone any chance to win.”
Bute won the IBF championship after defeating Sakio Bika in a qualifying bout and Alejandro Berrio for the title in 2007.  He scored the win with a sensational TKO stoppage of his opponent in the eleventh round.
In a 2008 bout with Andrade, Bute was ahead for the entire fight, but stumbled in the twelfth round from fatigue.  Sensing his exhaustion, Andrade pressed Bute and smashed him with a shot that put him down moments before the end of the round.  While Bute
got up, the end of the round stopped the count and he was ultimately awarded the contest on points.
Bute expanded on the situation to Fanhouse, saying that before the fight he contracted food poisoning, which affected his performance at the end of the bout.  “I got a virus in Romania after going to a wedding over there. It was food poisoning. I developed
some issues with it. The doctors said that I should not fight, but I wanted to take the fight any way,” Bute said.  “That was the major reason, because Lucien Bute is not going to get tired in a fight.”
Finally Bute expressed his desire to fight light heavyweight king Jean Pascal.  “Hopefully, the fight will happen between he and I in the near future. Maybe in terms of months, if not, a few years,” Bute said.
