Lucian Bute to defend IBF super middleweight title against Carl Froch - Boxing news
Lucian Bute, the current International Boxing Federation (IBF) middleweight champion, is scheduled to defend his title against Carl Froch, former World Boxing Council (WBC) super middleweight champion, in a 12-round bout which will be held on May 26, 2012.
According to the details, the ring for the ultimate showdown will be set up at Capital FM Arena situated in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom. Both sides have reflected great zeal and zest on the finalisation of the bout and have shared their respective
feelings regarding the engagement.
The Canadian Lucian Bute is on a huge winning streak and has been defending his title successfully for a long time. The current brawl against Carl will be the 32-year-old’s 10th title defence. Surprisingly Lucian, infamous as ‘Mister KO’, has defended his
title most of the time in his own lair that is Canada.
Bute has defended his title eight times in Canada and just one time in Romania, his former home country. It is this reason why he is mostly bashed for not being a true champion but such comments do not seem to disturb Bute and his squad.
At the finalisation of the deal Stephan Larouche, Bute’s trainer, silenced the critics and commented, “Lucian has already fought outside Canada in his professional career. This is a great challenge ahead for him on May 26 and Lucian will perform to his fullest
as he always does.”
Bute has also put forth pretty intimidating, harsh, and determined comments regarding the bout and said, “It’s my goal to fight the best boxers in the super middleweight division. Carl Froch belongs in the elite of the super middleweight division and it
will be a great fight. I am very confident and it will not faze me fighting in enemy territory.”
Carl, 34, has been in a total 30 bouts and came out victorious in 28. He has successfully held the WBC super middleweight gold twice, and British, Commonwealth, and English super middleweight titles once. Infamous as ‘The Cobra’, Carl has nailed many huge
names such as Glenn Johnson, Arthur Abraham and others but is currently coming from a unanimous loss to Andre Ward.
On the other hand, Lucian, also known as Le Tombeur, has been in a total 30 bouts and has never lost a bout hence keeping his winning streak intact. The clash between two top ranked super middleweights will definitely be a huge one since they both are considered
the best in the division in fact Lucian and Carl reside at World Boxing Association’s second and third seat respectively.
