Lucian Bute to face Denis Grachev before facing Froch in a rematch – Boxing News
Former super middleweight titleholder Lucian Bute will take on Denis Grachev, before going for a rematch against Carl Froch.
Bute is scheduled to face Grachev on November 3 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Bute’s hometown where he enjoys being the favourite.
“I am very happy that this fight is signed,” said Bute. “I can't wait to see my fans again and to fight in front of them at the Montreal Bell Centre. This fight will be the first step of my goal to re-conquer the IBF super middleweight belt,” he added.
Bute’s career has been condemned widely as he prefers fighting in his hometown. His only title defense fight outside his town was against Froch, which he lost. Some analysts are of the view that Bute is not capable of handling the pressure put forth by fans
in the arena. Against Froch, Bute was not the favourite and was being booed by the spectators by far and wide. He was knocked out by Froch in the fifth round, a defeat he would never forget.
“After several talks with Lucian and head trainer Stephan Larouche, we established a complete list of Lucian's needs and evaluated each opponent in function with such list. We stopped looking once we got to Denis Grachev and got the fight signed. Three of
his last four opponents were undefeated, and he KO'd two of them. Grachev is the best available boxer that Lucian can fight,” he added.
Last week, Froch spoke about fighting Lucian Bute once again, but this time in Montreal. According to Froch, he has already proven that Bute cannot fight outside his hometown and now he will prove his domination over the Montreal fighter in Montreal as well.
For Bute, the defeat to Froch was devastating and embarrassing, as he not only lost his title but his dignity too. He is now looking forward to get in the ring again with Froch to get his title back. If Bute is able to beat Denis, he will get a shot against
Froch. If he loses to Denis, then a rematch against Froch can be in jeopardy.
