The former Juventus director has notified his former employers that they should be holding onto the services of their legendary striker and not let him go.
Juventus President, Andrea Agnelli, issued a statement back in October mentioning that this would be the last campaign of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Del-Piero-c4726 for the Turin sides as the
club would not be giving an extension to his contract.
There have been many pundits and former players who have stated that the club should not be parting ways with the striker and need to hold onto him for the coming seasons.
Moggi was realistic in his assessment that the striker’s golden days are over, however he was also of the opinion that the striker can still add a lot to the team. He mentioned that the club might regret letting him go from their roster.
The former Turin giant’s director was talking to RadioCalciomercato and was quoted to have said:
“It’s true that Alex is not the player he once was, but he is always decisive, as he proved in recent games. I also know Alex as a person and can assure you we are talking
about a great man. Del Piero would still be very useful for Juventus... It would be a mistake to let him go.”
Moggi compared Del Piero to the legendary Jose Altafini, who proved to be extremely handy in his appearances off the bench at the twilight of his career, and felt Del Piero
still had a few more years in his legs.
There have been talks of appointing Del Piero as a director at the Bianconeri, and even though the idea seems plausible to Moggi, he still feels he can contribute directly
on the football field.
The former director of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 was of the opinion that the Scudetto chase was far from over, as there were tricky ties in store for the club. He was of the opinion that Roma
and Lecce could prove tough teams to tackle, and mentioned:
“It’s not just Roma who are on their road to the Scudetto. Lecce, for example, play the best football in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 right now and could really torture Antonio Conte’s side in
a few weeks.”
Juventus were due to play Cesena in their week 33 match of the Serie A, but the match was postponed following the death of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Piermario-Morosini-c29986.
