Luciano Moggi thrashes Juventus for announcing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Del-Piero-c4726’s exit – Serie A Update
Former Juventus director, Luciano Moggi, has questioned the President’s statements from yesterday regarding the departure of Alessandro Del Piero next year. The President, Andrea Agnelli, while recently talking to the shareholders of the club unveiled the
news that the Juve Captain would be retiring from his duties in Turin next year in June.
However, critics have reckoned such an early statement to be dangerous and unprofessional as Del Piero has yet to make any such claim yet. While his interview on Radio Mana Mana, Moggi said:
“I didn’t understand Agnelli’s statement. When Alessandro plays he always produces problems for the opposing team and he’s still the best player at Juventus in terms of technique. The club should have said these things in March or April. It made no sense
to make this statement now. Whoever advised Agnelli to do so has made a terrible error.”
Furthermore, Moggi believes that such careless statements would also effect the performance of the striker. The 36-year-old is the first choice striker of Juve and his lack of consistency can prove crucial for Juve.
“It’s dangerous, as this could de-motivate the forward. This was the wrong way to deal with a player who has given so much to the club.”
Moreover, the former Juve official believes that Del Piero has the right qualities as a Bianconeri player. He has been through the highs and lows of the club and has been a loyal servant at Turin. At the time of the Calciopoli scandal, many names left the
Juve rooster as the team got relegated to the second division Serie B.
However, the talismanic striker was amongst a few big names that held onto the Turin giants and helped them make their way back to the first division football. Although they recovered from the relegation, Juve have missed out on European action for two consecutive
years.
However, as the squad has been revamped and under the coaching of the former Juve midfielder, Antonio Conte, it is reckoned that Juve will again stand amongst the elites of Italian football. Currently, the Lady Killers are leading the Serie A with points
