Zenit St. Petersburg head coach, Luciano Spalletti, had no qualms about handing the 18-year-old midfielder his first senior team debut in the Russian Cup round-of-16 against FC Baltika.
Yevseyev started the difficult away match and
repaid the faith with an eye-catching display in the cup tournament against the Russian First Division team. The Russian midfielder played in place for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Igor-Denisov-c16694 against Baltika.
Spalletti felt that the young Russian midfielder displayed quality football after been thrown into action in the domestic cup despite making his first senior appearance for the defending Russian Premier League champions.
The former AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 manager has lavished praise on Yevseyev, admitting that the youngster made the most of the first-team opportunity.
“From my point of view, Evseev is a wonderful football player who has a bright future at Petrovsky stadium. If he does not get lost in the process, Yevseyev has the potential to become a good player. His decision-making on the
field is quite a bold and the midfielder can score.” The Russian Super Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Spalletti went on to credit the entire side for playing well against an organized team, saying that his team wanted a win badly after a series of disappointing results lately. The St. Petersburg club failed to win their last two
league matches excluding their defeat in the UEFA Champions League against Malaga CF last week.
The 53-year-old backed Aleksandr Bukharov after the Russian striker failed to score a goal this season, saying that the former Rubin Kazan man is struggling to rediscover his old form this term.
"Bukharov lacked match practice and played for the first time in a long time. But I think he came out and played a decent match and to be honest I was not expecting much from him. But he gave a lot of energy and contributed in
the team’s win," he concluded.
Zenit will now play their next league match against Lokomotiv Moscow before taking on AC Milan in Europe.
