In the upcoming round of Russian Premier League action, Zenit St. Petersburg will travel to Moscow in order to play the crunch league encounter against Lokomotiv Moscow.
The last time these two teams met in a league competition, Zenit suffered a 4-2 defeat against the Parovozy. Luciano Spalletti has urged his side to extend their decent domestic run by winning the upcoming tie after their 2-1 against
Spartak Moscow, earlier this week.
Spalletti admitted that they need to work very hard to beat Lokomotiv, as they are worthy opponents. As things stand, Lokomotiv are at the third-spot on the league table and 11 points adrift of the top spot.
“We will play against a tough opponent, which has proven their quality the entire season. Some of their players are playing quality football and which can decide the fate of the match. Lokomotiv’s strikers are accustomed to counterattacks. We
need to be on our toes against such a strong contender but should not forget about what we can do.” The Russian Cup winner was quoted as saying.
He also praised http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roman-Pavlyuchenko-c31639, admitting that the former Tottenham Hotspur forward is back to his best after returning to the Russian dugout.
Going into the crunch tie, Zenit will be without the services of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Viktor-Fayzulin-c36130. The aforementioned players will not play the upcoming match after sustaining respective injuries.
Worse still, Zenit are anxiously waiting for the result of an appeal, Spartak had filed against their striker, Aleksandr Kerzhakov yesterday. The in-form Russian forward has been accused of intentionally colliding with Myaso goalkeeper,

Commenting on the situation, Spalletti has defended Kerzhakov, revealing that the former Dynamo Moscow striker is not guilty. However, the former AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 manager requested the Russian Football Union to look into the matter seriously.
“Of course we will accept any decision by the RFU but I think Kerzhakov has not done anything to harm the opposing goalkeeper.” Spalletti concluded.
