Lucidity..?

Hi..

I just read something about certain people having lucid dreams. And I just think that sounds incredibly cool! So.. I would like to learn it. How do I go about aquiring that ability? Some good advice on how to do it..? Do I have to realize *in* the dream that I am actually dreaming, or what..?

Also, if any of you people on this forum have dreams like that yourself, please tell me about it. What is it like? How did you start having them..?

  1. Yes it happened many times to me, I suddenly realized that I could control it. And I think you know what I decided to do then, lol! I found a girl and wouhou! But it's hard to stay in the dream, because once you have realized you are dreaming, you wake up 'cause your concious mind works so you open your eyes... Sadly...

  2. Yes its pretty kool to experience this.

I have done so in many dreams, but the only thing is that when you become aware that you are dreaming and able to control your dream, you usually wake up or come too(not really in a deep sleep to make the dream continue any further).

But it is an awesome experience.

  3. I managed it once.  The only practice I used was to ask myself every few minutes before I went to sleep if I was awake or dreaming.  Yes, the principle I followed was that if you can test if you are awake or dreaming, you may be able to check during a dream and consciously act.

Eventually, after a few weeks of trying I woke up in a dream and was able to fully take control of my dream.  I was able to travel around a dream-zone I imagined and talked to friends and so on there.  I got 'bumped' out of the lucid dream by a character I didn't recognize and didn't know how to control.  I decided not to try for a while then fell out of the habit.

It was a real buzz to feel that I was dreaming but lucidly.  Of course someone could argue that I dreamed the control I had in the dream.  Proving the whole thing is another kettle of fish...
