The former Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder showers praise on the Foals’ manager for turning things around at Borussia-Park.
Stefan Effenberg reckons that Lucien Favre is the lone man responsible for turning Borussia Monchengladbach’s fortunes this season. He feels that the manager has worked extremely hard with every individual and deserves to achieve
something of note at the end of this season.
Effenberg rated the club’s revival this season as ‘unbelievable’ and admitted that the team has come a long way from last season.
Monchengladbach finished the last season in 16th place on the league standings and survived relegation after coming out on top against Eintracht Frankfurt in the relegation play-offs. The Borussia-Park outfit have surprised
everyone with their ominous display in the ongoing campaign and are strong contenders to win the title.
While talking to sports website, bild.com, the 43-year-old further added:
"This is due to the painstaking work of Favre. He has strengthened the defence. Last season, Gladbach were the shooting gallery of the league, now they have the best defence. Favre is able to push all his players to the limit."
On the other hand, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 international insisted that Bayern Munich are favourites to win this season’s Bundesliga. However, he opined that Gladbach could push them and Borussia Dortmund all the way through, considering
their current form.
Effenberg advised the Reds to keep hold of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521 and claimed that Bayern are incomplete without the Dutchman. He insisted that Jupp Heynckes should play him in the starting XI, irrespective of all the criticism against the
winger.
"Bayern are my favourites but Gladbach have no reason to hide. They play football that is deserving of the title of 'champion. Bayern are well advised to remain calm. Without Robben, it is difficult to win a title. Bayern need
Robben - no ifs or buts," the former German international concluded.
Effenberg had two spells each with Bayern and Monchengladbach before finishing his career while playing for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Al-Arabi-c38292. He represented Germany in 35 international games, bagging five goals in the process.
