  1. DISAGREE!

Here is a list of factors that contribute to sucsesss and their related parameters:

    1.Genetics>IQ>Nutrition

    2.Hard Work, willingness to...

    3.Environment>Physical Location & Resources>People>Social Status(real or percieved).

    4. Culture>Lifestyle>Religious beliefs>mentality.

    5. Education>General Knowledge>Experience.

    6.Luck

You decide for yourself which of these factors are more important than others.

BUT, the Presence or absence of  one or more of the first 5 groups above, determines "HOW MUCH LUCK"  you have towards success.

    NUTRITION & RELIGION! Why?

Great and successfull people don't often like to be around undernusished, angry & moody people!

A well nurished person is often in a better mood & "good spirits", and tends to attract successfull People & better things around him-who in turn open up more opportunities for success.

Religion, depending on what type, can condition a mind to  such a degree that a person will reject or fail to see an an opportunity for success, because the opportunity may be in conflict with his beleifs!  The reverse is also true.

Religion can therefore be a limiting or enhancing factor.

    Conclusion: LIFE IS NOT FAIR.

Most people don't have enough LUCK to possess all the above elements of success at the same time and place!

The best way to fill in some of  the missing elements is through HARD WORK!

    Thanks

  2. Disagree.

    Because life is infact, unfair.

There are lucky people and unlucky people.

For example, you and your friend take a starbucks franchaise and open it in diffrent streets. Buisness is booming for her, but not for you. Even though your buisness is the same, same service, same taste. But she was probably luckier to open in the RIGHT place.  I dont know about you, but winning a game's also about luck (to me) sometimes even the best teams can lose to the worst teams.

  3. I disagree. I personally believe that luck is just another name for positive chance. For example, you roll the dice and you get some random numbers. Let's say the higher your roll, the "luckier" you are. So, the more you roll the dice, the more chances you get to be successful. That doesn't mean you will get successful and roll mostly high numbers but, the more you try, the greater your chances of having success are.

  4. Luck has a lot to do with success ...  let's face it ,, life is not fair ,, and some people are born with a "head start" ...

Some people have to work twice as hard to get half as far.

I've seen many people get huge lucky breaks that will set them up for the rest of their lives,,,    other people are VERY hard working,,, honest and very intelligent and can never seem to rise above mediocrity in their success ,,, and unfortunate unpleasant surprises can really set people back in their lives ...

It's a lot easier said then done to just always put yourself in the right place at the right time.    Life is always full of surprises and curve balls that you can't really predict or plan for ...   some lucky people just have it easier than others...

Do you think that "luck" + a lot of flukes have anything to do with Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie's success???         Or did they suffer through years of hardships and sacrifices to earn their fame and fortune?

I think the answer is obvious.

  5. Disagree.

In their pre-superstar days, George Lucas hired Harrison Ford, who was a carpenter at the time, to build cabinets for his home. Soon he used him to read lines to casting candidates for his new, upcoming film, Star Wars. Although Lucas had no intention of casting Ford, Spielberg saw great potential in Ford and convinced Lucas to cast him for the role of Han Solo and the rest is history...

Ford owes his breakthrough success to Lucas and Spielberg, especially because of the Star Wars films and the Indiana Jones trilogy.

If it wasn't for Spielberg's uncanny eye to see talent and Lucas's blockbuster Star Wars hits, maybe today we would have seen Tom Selleck reprising the role of Indiana Jones in the film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

  6. I disagree totally.  There are -tons- of bright, talented, capable, energetic, and hard-working people out there who will go nowhere because they'll never get the opportunity.

It is, however, also true that there are a lot of opportunities which happen to people who are -not- so bright, talented, capable, energetic, and hard-working.  So the best 'game strategy' is to be as prepared as possible, but don't get too frustrated if it never happens.

  7. Disagree...I do think people work hard to get where their at, but I think they may be a little lucky, good for them, rub some on  me..

  8. Disagree. Your success is determined by factors outside your control (i.e. luck): where you were born, your genes, your formative environment, the class of your parents, your educational opportunities, conditions in the womb, etc. By the time you are actually capable of exerting anything like a will, you have already been pretty much set by biological and social factors.

  9. Disagree.

Your life is affected by three things, genes, luck and lifestyle.

Lifestyle is the bit you can influence by your efforts, but what you can achieve is limited by the other two.

  10. From the point of view from others luck may make you appear successful.

From your own personal point of view, unearned achievement isn't perceived as success unless you can delude yourself.

Success stems from earned achievement in areas that satisfy YOU

  11. I believe in LUCK only are :

MY good luck to meet good people and your life will be good.

    Also,

My FARTed luck to meet up bad people and they give me a h**l of S****y Life.

e.g. A good boss usually has a pool of good staffs and a bad boss usually has a pool of bad staffs. :P hehe.

  12. The formular for success is DDDC.

    Deceitful, Deceptive, Dishonest and Consistant.

The one thing that will prevent anybody from enjoying success is truth.

    So I spelt formula wrong.

  13. Do not need an opinian - read

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luck

  14. I believed the outline of our lives are pre-destined and we ultimately shape it by our choices. You will get want you want if you go get it, if not you didnt really want it to begin with.

  15. disagree, because everything depends on chance, which is luck. you can only increase and decrease chances to the point where the chance in somthing cannot be seen, but there will always be chance no matter how small.

  16. Agree.  Success comes from

    passion, determination, and

    stick-to-it.

You can be the luckiest person

around, but if you don't focus

on a job, have goals, you'll

    get zero.  Or, you'd get

    something, but not nearly as

much as a person with set goals.

  17. Disagree.  Just imagine that the sperm did not get lucky while getting to the egg and so the person would not even get a chance to be successful.

  18. Disagree. Any successful person who's honest will tell you that luck paid a part.

  19. Okay. Luck is the measure of the probability of something happening in the favour of somebody. So luck isn't something you believe in or not, it is a solid thing. It's like saying yeah i don't believe in length or something it's not something debatable to believe in it or not. As i said it's the measure of probability in favour of someone. So if something ALWAYS or ALOT of the time goes in the favour of someone you'd say they have good luck. So yes speaking from that aspect luck does contribute to ones success, but to be honest i could talk about this for hours upon hours. LOL i'm on the year 8 debating team currently. But generally speaking from that aspect it does CONTRIBUTE, but doesn't entirely depend on ones success. If you wish to debate upon it come and challenge me. LOL i need some training before the year 8 competition lol. XD

  20. I agree.

There is this great Canadian I would like to quote: " I'm a firm believer in luck, and I find that the harder I work the more luck I have"... " Stephen Leacock".

It is a wonderful way of saying that there is not such thing as luck, luck is what the hardworking and intelligent men and women have to the members of society who dare not work so intelligently, so arduously. So they must have a reason for their own apathy, and "luck" is the reason.

Superstitious people more than the apathetic believe in luck by far. You will find a great deal of men and women who work very hard and still believe it is luck that brings them their rewards and the good fortunes of others. They don't realize that luck is as useful as a dead foot of a rabbit. Doesn't do a d**n thing for you.
