Lucky Lukman, Mita cement their spot in quarter-finals of Jakarta Open 2012 – Badminton Update
Mixed Doubles campaigners Lucky Lukman Nurhakim and Mita of Indonesia outclassed Ragawa Tamasuta-Marsheila Giska I in third round and ensured their presence in quarter-finals of Djarum Sirnas Flypower Jakarta Open on May 17, 2012.
The epic pre quarter-final match prolonged to three hard fought games and was concluded with final figures of 14-21, 21-18 and 21-17.
However, it was not a smooth ride for victorious duo as they were bit scratchy in start against higher ranked rivals and had to wait for 45 minutes to seize the honour.
Ragawa-Marsheila, who was ranked fifth in this event, disappointed their supporters as they looked completely off colour in most part of the match.
They took off in perfect manner in opening game and dazzled the opposing team with a lustrous performance. They employed all the experience and brilliance to overshadow their challengers.
The twosome of Ragawa and Marsheila launched a brisk attack to establish their grip. They accomplish this immediate target by clinching some back-to-back points.
Though, they were just few steps ahead than Lukman-Mita before the half time but they accelerated their pace and doubled the lead in third quarter of the set.
They mounted pressure with some fruitful rallies in final stage and their opponents could not lift this burden as knelt down after reading 14-21 score on board.
However, next game saw suppressed duo bouncing back with a staggering performance. This time the couple Lukman-Mita did not repeat their mistake and played with great verve.
In first half, they were trailing behind their superior competitors but they managed to keep their lead very small until the one-minute break.
After the interval, they unleashed their prime skills and got in driving seat to steer clear of a straight-set defeat.
First the underrated duo caught their rivals at 18 and then stole second segment of the show with a decent margin of 21-18.
The decider proved replay of second set as Mixed Doubles partners Lukman and Mita bagged third set in same manner.
They sealed a splendid victory by registering favourable margin of 21-17. They will now lock horns with Felix Eka-Nadya Aulia in round of eight.
