My friend and I were talking about lucky and unlucky items and other superstitious c**p, and one of us suddenly went down the line of the Lucky Charms marshmellows. We found out that we know how all of them are lucky except for the red balloon. What is so lucky about a red balloon?! The four leaf clover and horseshoe and stuff like that is a no-brainer, but what's with the freakin' red balloon?! I must know, and I can't find it on Google or any other search engine, and I will not die in peace unless I know! Heeeeelp! Does anyone know? This is driving me absolutely insane!!!

  1. All the charms are supposed to be trinkets on a charm bracelet and the luck comes from the mascot being a leprechaun.  He makes reference to his red balloons in commercial jingles but there is no reference to them being lucky.

  2. probably nothing...I'm thinking it was just the fact that the cereal maker wanted more marshmellows then cereal in the box

  3. Lucky Escaped the children in a red hot-air balloon in one of the commercials, so adding red balloon marshmallows was just a marketing and advertising strategy to get people to buy more Lucky Charms.

The only people red balloons are lucky for is the General Mills Cereal Company.

  4. And guess what -- there's a new one -- I think it's an hourglass......
