The veteran right winger who recently signed for Les Merlus, took a look back at his debut , admitting his fondness for the club that has values
With so much experience of playing at the top, the Lyon born still has not decided to call it time on an illustrious playing career.
The jubilant front-man after the clash against former club, PSG on Saturday, said, "A great moment, happy to be here, to have signed in Lorient, to find a league. I found a good group, a good team, with whom we made the almost perfect match against PSG.
Leaders have called me 10 days before he Championship, I had the coach, the president, the athletic director. This is a team that I have always liked, with values, which play ball, they need experience and I am very happy to be here.’’
The midfield sensation, in particular, is happy at the prospect of giving the all required experience to the young side, which languishes almost at the bottom half of the French Ligue 1, ending on a paltry 17th position last campaign.
However, this is not the only reason behind his happiness. The experienced winger is happy with the admiration he received from the club.
The former France International, who did not show even the slightest of hesitation, talking about his past, spoke candidly about the reasons which resulted in the experienced man to play competitive football with the Breton club.
The constant takeovers of his previous clubs by different owners, followed by management changes, and the lack of football for him as a result, added with the desire to stay in Lyon, ultimately became reasons plenty enough for the attacking midfielder to
join the weaker of the clubs in his home-town.
The former Barcelona man, who bagged three goals for the national team in just 17 appearences, during his short stint spanning between 2000 and 2005, has previously played for Monaco, PSG, Roma, Barcelona and for his hometown football club, Lyon.
The experience he had with these heavyweights together with his passion for the game, is deemed by many as sufficient enough to ensure easy sailing for the club in the top tier of French football. Giuly has also admired players at the club and also admitted
his fondness for coach, Christian Gourcuff.
