Question:

Luggage Size Question?

Now that some airlines are charging for the first checked bag, I'm trying to get on with one carry-on and one personal bag. The dimentions for the carry-on cannot exceed 45 total dimention inches but mine is 51 inches. My question is, how strict are they about the 45 inch rule? Will I be able to get on with my 51 inch bag (24x18x9)?

  1. They're pretty strict. Get a smaller bag or be prepared to pay

  2. Chances are, you'll be able to...

I know at least, for alaska airlines you can bring a carry on that is

10" H x 17" W x 24"L, your width length is just slightly bigger (1 inch). It is really the length, 24" that matters.

Most of the time youll be able to get by with such a small difference...

But depending on your airline, theres a chance (a very SMALL chance that you have to check it).

    I work for Alaska Airlines

btw, VERY smart idea to just do one carry on and one personal item...
