Lughnasa, hard to beat in Irish Thoroughbred Breeders Association Fillies Scheme Premier Bumper at Punchestown
It will take a good one to beat Lughnasa in the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders Association Fillies Scheme Premier Bumper, taking place at Punchestown on Friday, April 27, 2012.
The five-year-old novice looked a bright prospect when winning at Cork last month. The Robert Tyner-trained made her debut with a huge bang, sealing a comprehensive triumph in the Mardyke INH Flat Race.
Under Mr C Motherway, the debutant made a wonderful effort to secure the top place by two and a quarter lengths. Since she is in great shape at the moment, her opponents would find it difficult to do anything special.
The bay mare is all set to unleash her talent. According to the program, the proceedings will be kicked off at 19:10 GMT. Among the entries are:
Lughnasa, Tasitiocht, Lady Of Glencoe, Glens Melody, Wontbelongnow, Scotias Glen, She Ranks Me, Golden Electra, The Flying Doc, Chiltern Hills, Four Wives, Honourable Lady, Midsummer Drama, Bella Lawena, Ma Belle Amie, Way Up
In The Air, Pops Well, Thinkin Ahead, Lucrecia Borgia, Twilight Solace, Ellaway Rose, Kitty Oday, Risky Folly and Teochew.
Willie Mullins’ Tasitiocht is being considered as the biggest threat to Lughnasa. The five-year-old is ready to make her debut after doing a lot of practice in the star-studded stable.
Mullins will also be represented by Glens Melody and Chiltern Hills, but Tasitiocht makes more appeal. Oscar’s daughter will be ridden by Mr P W Mullins.
The bookmakers are giving respect to Lady Of Glencoe. The four-year-old was not impressive on her debut last month, as she finished fifth in the New Ross 4yo Maiden Hurdle at Wexford.
However, the filly did not lose her determination and came up with an improved effort last time out. At the start of this month, D. T. Hughes’ trainee shocked the spectators by grabbing the runner-up place in the Kevin McManus
Bookmaker Champion (Pro/Am) 4yo INH Flat Race at Limerick.
According to our calculations, Lughnasa is going to appear with a fine effort. Mullins’ trio might cause an upset, but it would not be an easy job for them.
