FC Augsburg manager Jos Luhukay is delighted with the win over the in-form side and wants to carry on with the good form.
The tactician hailed his side’s brilliant performance and praised the character shown by his team. He stated that the team silenced the critics with the display and wants them to carry on with the good work in the future also.
The Foals suffered a shock loss at the hands of Augsburg in their recent Bundesliga clash at the SGL Arena courtesy a goal from defender Callsen-Bracker in the second-half. This was the club’s third win of the season after coming
from the second division in the previous campaign. The victory meant that the side has climbed from the bottom spot to the 17th now.
Luhukay is overjoyed with the victory and the way his side played against the Monchengladbach, who have been tipped as one of the favourites to win the league title at the end of the season. He admitted that the win would surely
give a lot of confidence to the players and would set a benchmark for them to succeed as the season unfolds.
“My team showed tremendous passion today and I'm very proud of their performance. We were so compact and had a really good game. That's the way we want to keep playing. It's only three points, but they're very important psychologically,”
he was quoted as saying in an interview,
Meanwhile, Monchengladbach boss admitted that the home side deserved all three points and were worthy winners in the fixture. He rued missed chances and admitted that his team did not play up to the full potential. He warned the
players against complacency and has urged them to remain focused for the future games.
“Augsburg deserved to win, they were better than us. We were always little bit off the pace and we played too slowly. That's why it was hard for us to control the game,” the boss concluded.
This is FC Augsburg’s maiden campaign in the Bundesliga after they finished second in the second division last year to gain automatic promotion. The club will next face Hamburg SV at the Imtech Arena on Saturday, December 17.
