The Giallorossi manager devastated with the crisis at Stadio Olimpico Roma and understands the fan protests; admits the team is low on confidence
AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 manager Luis Enrique has accepted the responsibility of his team’s recent crisis after the recent defeat.
The Giallorossi lost 2-1 to Fiorentina in the round 33 game of the season at Stadio Olimpico Rome on Wednesday, April 25. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andrea-Lazzari-c5687’s last minute strike grabbed three important points for the Viola.
As a result of the defeat, Roma’s hopes of securing a third-place finish witnessed a serious dent. The capital side now remains five points behind the final UEFA Champions League spot holders, and only four matches are left to play until the end of the season.
Luis Enrique, who has been under extreme media pressure throughout the season, looked dejected after the recent defeat. The fans once again staged protests after the result, and Enrique understands the feelings of the supporters.
The tactician believes that the fans are right to express their disagreement, as the team has let them down. Roma’s recent defeat followed the 4-0 thumping at the hands of Juventus over the weekend, and the Giallorossi manager admitted that his team is very low on confidence.
While talking to Sky Sport Italia, Enrique said:
“It was difficult for the fans to understand the final result. I can only praise the fans and the way they have supported both team and Coach. It’s only natural they should show sadness right now. Can I change something? The way I see it, the day a Coach becomes a problem, then it’s a difficult moment.”
“It’s also difficult to play when the squad can lose confidence. At half-time we made a few small changes and after the break we played much better, but it can happen when pushing to win that we leave something at the back for a counter.”
Roma drop down to the 7th position in the league standings, and are under threat of failing to qualify for UEFA Europa League too.
The capital side will face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 in their next game on Saturday, April 28.
