The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 B coach has been offered to stay another year at the club, but insists that he is weighing down on the players and should take his leave from the club.
AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 sporting director, Walter Sabatini, has revealed that the club is interested in keeping the coach for the next season. However, he stated that Luis Enrique is having his doubts over his value for the club, and may decide
to part with the Giallorossi at the end of the season.
The capital club remain unconvincing in the league as their spectacular wins were quickly followed by some gruesome defeats for the club.
The pressure on Roma manager escalated after the team followed their stalemate against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003, with another draw at the hands of Chievo Verona. The consecutive setbacks have seen the club drop to seventh spot in the league, with
just two games left to be played in the season.
The club is currently stands four points behind the third place, and their hopes of a UEFA Champions League qualification spot are virtually over.
The former Barcelona B manager was introduced to the club with a view to inculcate the Catalonians’ style of play at the Italian outfit. While Sabatini retains his faith in the new coach , Enrique feels that he has outlived his
welcome at the Giallorossi.
The club sporting director insisted that the club hopes to retain the current manager, as he is a man of exemplary integrity and affluent skill. He stated that the coach has the ability to take the team to new heights, and the
club is willing to give him the space to take on the project.
The Maggica executive stated that the situation requires a deep analysis before a final decision can be made about the future manager of the club. However, he insisted that the aspirations of the tactician and his family cannot
be sidelined, while making the final judgement. The representative went on to stated that the club will wait for the close of the season before declaring a verdict.
While talking to Sky Sport Italia, the 56-year-old Italian said:
"We continue to hope that he will remain because we know that he can produce great results as he is an honest, loyal, committed and competent man. However, he must evaluate his situation and make the right decision also for his
family. His uncertainty is determined by the fact that he thinks he has not received so much approval, and that this is weighing down the team. I But we will wait until the end of the championship, which is in 10 days' time."
AS Roma is scheduled to face Catania and Cesena in the remaining two games of the season.
