Luis Enrique has revealed that he has long-term plans for AS Roma, and he would like to extend his stay at Stadio Olimpico Rome.
The Spaniard is under tremendous pressure following his side’s inconsistent performance this season. The tactician insisted that his work at AS Roma is a long-term project, and suggested that he is willing to stay for five more
years to see it to the end.
“You’ll have to cope with me for another four or five years – minimum. Obviously you never know what may happen in football, but if it was just up to me then I’d stay.”
The Maggica have lost three of their last six matches, and the effectiveness of the new manger is under strong criticism.
However, the former Barcelona B coach maintains that his new style of football is not a failure; and he needs more time to institute the change at the club. He admitted that it is a difficult time for the players and the coach,
but insisted that he believes in the change he has initiated, and always knew that the journey is going to be difficult.
“Has the project failed? When I came here I knew that it would be difficult, but I am giving my all and working hard. I won’t give up.”
Roma have been criticised after failing to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window. The Giallorossi boss sidelined any such criticism, stating that he is happy with the quality of squad available to him. He admitted
that the team is missing key players due to injury, but insisted that the situation cannot be regarded as a crisis.
“We had an excellent squad after the winter transfer window. I'm happy with the club's transfer dealings. Injuries in defence and up front? There's no injury crisis in either of those areas.”
Enrique admitted that their next match against Palermo is going to be a tough game for the players, especially due to the demoralising derby defeat against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775.
AS Roma will play Palermo on Saturday March 10th at Renzo Barbera.
