Luis Enrique worried by lack of self belief in players after draw against Siena: Serie A news
A.S Roma manager, Luis Enrique, has admitted his concerns with the lack of self belief in his players after the draw against Siena.
Roma were held to a 1-1 draw after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Vitiello scored a late equaliser to deny the hosts their first win of the 2011/12 Serie A campaign. The Giallorossi have had a dismal start to the season as they have picked up only two
points from three games thus far.
Enrique held a meeting with the players and Sporting Director, Walter Sabatini, after the match and discussed the major issues faced by his team. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 B tactician admitted that his attackers are hesitant in going
forward and because of that fear, they are failing to take their chances cleanly.
The 41-year-old believes despite having 70% share of possession throughout the game, his team allowed Siena to attack them. The Spaniard is worried by the start and believes that lack of self belief in players is the only reason
for their underperformance.
Talking to reporters Enrique said, “My conclusions cannot be positive. I think the team did everything we expected, but we don’t risk going for goal. We cannot finish moves with as many players as I’d like. Siena had an interesting
second half performance, while we had problems moving the ball around and getting into the box.”
“I am worried by the entire situation, but above all the lack of self-belief in the players that can only increase as results don’t come. We were frightened and that is normal, because we still haven’t had our first win."
Enrique admitted that his team struggled against the pace of the opposition in the counter attack but remains confident that the players will learn their lessons and improve in the future. The former Real Madrid star has urged
the players to improve their game sooner rather than later and start believing in themselves.
