Luis Lazarte banned from IBF bouts as Osvaldo Bisbal receives Daryl Peoples letter – Boxing news
Daryl Peoples, President International Boxing Federation (IBF) recently intimated Osvaldo Bisbal, President Argentine Boxing Federation, that a ban has been imposed on Luis Alberto Lazarte, former IBF light Flyweight title holder, as a result of which the
40-year-old will not be able to compete in any of the organisation’s future boxing events.
The ban though is awful and has almost subjugated the country’s number one pugilists’ career yet is being considered a healthy and the most apropos decision by the governing body. Luis is duly restricted by the apex body because of his undue, illegal, and
unauthorised actions which included threatening the match referee, causing a riot, and biting his opponent several times despite of being warned.
Peoples while informing Bisbal of his decision clearly wrote, “As a result of Luis Lazarte threatening the life of referee Eddie Claudio while receiving a points deduction in the sixth round, Lazarte is banned from being involved in any capacity in any IBF
related fight that takes place in Argentina or around the world. I believe that I do not have to express to you that Lazarte’s threat to Claudio, which can be clearly heard in the telecast, is completely unacceptable, should not be taken lightly and merits
punishment. Behavior of this nature by a fighter is not and will not be tolerated by the IBF.”
The above matter is the only one on which the organisation has taken stern action. The remaining aspects such as the riot and the people involved in that chaos, the men who injured the referee and those who even broke the ribs of Johnriel Casimero’s advisor,
action against such men has not been taken by IBF.
However, Peoples in his letter has ordered Osvaldo to carry out necessary investigation after going through the broadcast video since many men can not only be recognised easily from it but also can be arrested or apprehended as per Argentine’s laws for further
investigation or trial.
Luis and Casimero were bound to take on each other in 12-round brawl which took place at Club Once Unidos situated in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina. The fight was meant to decide as to who will wear the interim IBF light flyweight title. Things
got out of hand when Alberto, infamous as El Mosquito, fell down in the 10th round and lost the skirmish.
His wild fans entered the ring beating whoever got in their way. As a result of that attack not only Casimero’s life got threatened but one of his advisors received serious injuries. It must be kept in mind that Bisbal initially claimed that IBF’s rules
and regulations mean nothing to them.
