Luis Leon Sanchez secured the Tour de France 2012 victory for his side, Team Rabobank
Luis Leon Sanchez registered the first victory for Team Rabobank after his admirable performance during the stage 14 of the race.
He crossed the finish-line in a quickest time of 4 hours, 50 minutes and 29 seconds and restricted his major opponents.
Peter Sagan of Team Liquigas-Cannondale finished 47 seconds behind at the second spot while Sandy Casar of Team FDJ-Big Mat, Philippe Gilbert of Team BMC and Gorka Izaguirre Insausti of Team Euskaltel-Euskadi claiming the next three spots.
The Italian was delighted on bagging his fourth career win at the French race and thanked his colleagues for their continuous support during the contest.
"I had three stage wins in other Tours and this year the race turned hard from the first day and it looked like it would be impossible," as.com quoted him as saying.
"But when you fight you can get things done. We have only four riders in the race but when you want it, in the end, you can get the victory".
Samuel had tears in eyes after the victory and noted that Peter Sagan is an ultimate favourite for the stage victories and he is happy to finish ahead of the him.
"Fortunately, I have a family that supports me in everything, me and my brother. My daughter will have seen it on television. And I'm very happy".
The 28-year-old also succeeded during the National Time Trial Championships earlier this year and along with the stage victories at the Paris-Nice, Vuelta a Castilla y Leon and the Tour de Romandie.
Luis is marking his sixth appearance at the Tour de France and is optimistic to improve his performance during the coming stages of the race.
He is 1 hour, 15 minutes and 1 second behind the race leader after the stage 14 classifications and currently holds the 58th overall position.
Bradley Wiggins of Team Sky is leading the category with Christopher Froome, Vincenzo Nibali, Cadel Evans and Jurgen Van Den Broeck holding the next four positions.
Team Rabobank leys at the 12th overall spot after the team’s classifications with Team RadioShack-Nissan, Team Sky Procycling, Team BMC, Team Astana and Team Liquigas-Cannondale claiming the top five spots.
