Luis Nani, Nicky Shorey: Best of Gameweek 4 – Fantasy Premier League – Part 2
Asmir Bergovic’s (10 points) heroics for Stoke City against Liverpool earned him the honor of being goalkeeper for the ‘Best team of Gameweek 4’, with Manchester United’s Phil Jones (12 points) and Chelsea skipper John Terry (11 points) joining him on the
team sheet as well.
Terry, however, was not the only defender who managed to earn 11 points as he was joined by:
Nicky Shorey (West Bromwich Albion)
Given a new lease by West Brom manager, Roy Hodgson, Shorey is returning to the kind of form which saw him become a Fantasy Premier League favourite whilst he was playing at Reading.
His spirited performance earned him a 2-point bonus and a fine defensive display saw him earn the four points for the clean sheet. The kicker was the assist Shorey provided which managed to take his tally up to nine points before the final two points were
added for time spent on the pitch.
Managers should keep an eye on Shorey as it seems he can still managed to squeeze a few points out of every game, and at just 4.5-million he is a bargain.
Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal)
It is the young Arsenal player's first appearance in the team of the week and rightly so. The player looked solid as the Gunners managed to sneak a win past Swansea in testing times.
Another bargain in the fantasy transfer market at 5.4-million, Gibbs is an exciting prospect as his attacking prowess matches his defensive capabilities.
Earning 3 bonus points for a superb performance on the weekend as well as the standard four points for the clean sheet, Gibbs managed to get his tally to nine points when the points for Minutes played were added as well.
Midfielders
With the defenders out of the way it is time to take a look at the four midfielders who repaid their fantasy manager’s faith.
Luis Nani (Manchester United)
The second Manchester United player to feature in the team, Nani has been a revelation, not just for Sir Alex Ferguson, but for every manager who bought him in the Fantasy Transfer market.
Shining since Christiano Ronaldo’s move to Real Madrid, Nani has been earning points by the bucket load. This weekend was no different as the Portuguese midfielder earned the most points for a midfielder.
While he may not have found the back of the net, Nani was instrumental in Manchester United’s routing of Bolton Wanderers. Like Phil Jones, Nani set up two of the Red Devil’s goals for six points.
A clean sheet meant an extra point earned and he was also awarded one bonus point for his overall display.
Going on to play the full 90 minutes, Nani managed to end the game with 10 points to his name and with the 21.6% of managers who picked him with smiles on their faces.
However, at 9.9-million, the player is slightly on the expensive side but that can easily be overlooked due to his points return.
