Luis Orlando Del Valle to take on Vic Darchinyan – Boxing News
Luis Orlando Del Valle, the surging young Puerto Rican featherweight, is looking forward to defend his undefeated streak against most probably the toughest opponent of his career Vic Darchinyan, the former International Boxing Organization bantamweight champion,
in a 10-round bout which will be held on September 29, 2012.
The duo will co-headline the pay-per-view organised and promoted by Lou DiBella of DiBella Entertainment. The showdown dubbed as ‘Road to Glory’ will be televised live on HBO’s weekly Saturday night boxing show.
In addition to the above bout, the fight card will also witness Edwin Rodriguez take on Jason Escalera, headlining the extravaganza. The show will be broadcasted live from Foxwoods Resort in Mashantucket, Connecticut, United States.
Luis and Vic’s promoter, Elias Nassar, recently shared their thoughts during a teleconference about the bout. Orlando while sharing his thoughts put forth his sheer determination of being the best.
The 25-year-old was of the view that in order to become the best one has to nail the best, adding that he has already started his training camp and cannot wait for September 29.
Luis stated, “I want to be the best and to be the best, you have to beat the best. We're going to prove to the world that we belong with the big boys on September 29. We've already started training camp and we have no doubt that we're going to come out with
the win. I can't wait.”
Orlando, also known as ‘Orlandito’, will enter his career’s 17th bout, boasting an undefeated streak. The young lad has pinned 11 of his opponents via knockout and possesses a pretty decent powerful jab.
This will be the second time that Luis will take on an opponent with a hefty resume. Before the Vic-venture, Luis collided with Jose Angel Beranza and emerged out victorious after collecting a unanimous decision.
His upcoming opponent Vic, 36, has been in a total of 43 bouts, boasting 37 wins with 27 coming by way of knockout. The Armenian veteran pounder is coming off a two-bout lose streak and will take this bout as a golden opportunity to make a comeback on the
win track.
Vic’s promoter Elias while talking on behalf of the former WBA Super World super flyweight champion, stated, “I want to thank HBO, Lou DiBella and Gary Shaw for putting this together for Vic. Vic’s looking forward to fighting Del Valle on September 29. He's
preparing very well over in Armenia and it should be a very exciting bout.”
The bout will be a classic one as Luis will enter the ring to prove that he is a talented young lad who can nail even the veterans whereas Vic will look forward to capitalise the opportunity in order to make a comeback on the win track.
