Luis Perez-Sala believes HRT has just extracted half of their car’s potential so far – Formula 1 news
HRT team principal, Luis Perez-Sala has said that they have only been able to extract half of their car’s potential in the 2012 Formula 1 season so far.
Perez-Sala said that they are quite contended with the performance of their car in the season until now. Moreover, he said that they faced some issues during the pre-season testing this year and later couldn’t find any time to assess their car which caused
the unexpected complications in their development process.
“I think that, overall, F112 is a car that has given quite good result, keeping in mind how it started,” he said. “In winter I had a lot of doubts, because car was handed to us and we didn't have enough time to review it,” Perez-Sala said.
However, he said that despite the difficulties during the start of the current season, the car has provided them good results. He also said that their car has a very good design and admired its reliability. Furthermore, he said that the best thing about
their car is that they can make the essential developments whenever there is a need of it.
In addition, he said that they have only achieved 50% of their car’s potential until now especially concerning the aerodynamics while he said that they are positively looking forward to extract the remaining half of it in the approaching races after the
ongoing mid-season break.
“But even with all these obstacles, car has given good results. It has good base and that's its biggest strength. It's reliable car with good mechanical resistance and offers a lot of possibilities for development. I'd say we're at 50% of its potential and
we can still extract another 50%, mainly in aerodynamics,” he added.
The Madrid based team has not been able to score even a single point in the first eleven races. Nevertheless, they are not feeling upset and are positively aiming to score some crucial points so as to secure a reasonable position in this year’s championship
fight.
Let’s see how their drivers, Pedro de la Rosa and Narain Karthikeyan perform in the season ahead.
