Luis Perez-Sala relates HRT endeavours in field with story of David and Goliath – Formula 1 news
HRT team principal, Luis Perez-Sala has related his team’s endeavours in the current field of Formula 1 with the story of David and Goliath in which the little fellow was up against a giant.
The Madrid based team has not been able to score even a single point in any of the first eleven grands prix of this season. Furthermore, they could not test their car during all the three pre-season tests as their car failed to meet the security requirement.
Later, they could hardly assess their car so as to know what developments and alternations they needed.
Although, after the Hungarian Grand Prix, Perez-Sala has said that they are trying their best to make the necessary upgrades in their car so as to come up stronger in the races ahead and to score some crucial points in the championship fight. However, he
asserted that they can’t afford any update package at present due to financial issues and will launch the planned upgrades in the Singapore GP.
Meanwhile, he said that they have faced huge problems related to the availability of funds which hindered their performance in the past.
Nonetheless, he said that they are not feeling upset over the shortage of money and expressed that they are positively looking forward to get the essential sponsorship which will eventually help them in making the significant advancement like David overcame
Goliath.
“I like lost causes,” Perez-Sala told El Pais, “and this is a unique challenge. In the world there are only twelve teams in F1, less than in football or the NBA. The economic and media impact of 20 grands prix is impressive. There are great economic returns
and great technology, but it is very difficult to reach and, above all, to stay in. It takes money, image, order and very reliable sponsorship and for the public to like you. It is very exciting. This is the eternal story of overcoming, of David and Goliath,
of madmen who want to go far.”
