Luis Razia to replace Jarno Trulli for Brazilian Grand Prix FP1 – Formula 1 news
Luis Razia will replace Jarno Trulli at the first free practice session prior to the Brazilian Grand Prix as a Lotus driver.
Razia said that he is looking forward to impressing the home crowd ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix.
“It will be very important to come to Sao Paulo with a good (performance) level, because people will be paying more attention there than here in Abu Dhabi,” Razia is quoted by Agencia Estado.
“It is the first time I have driven a F1 car at home and, even though it's just a free practice, it has been one of my big goals. It will be special for I have to treat it like work and perform rather than feel the thrill of accomplishment,” he further added.
He started his single seater career in 2005 and in his second year, he had taken the South American F3 title with seven wins from 16 races. During the same year, he was involved in the F3000 Masters and took part in four rounds. He won three out of those
four rounds. The highlight of his F3000 career came in 2007 when he came third in the season.
Razia did a drive test in Abu Dhabi during the Young Driver Test, where he had an average day. Earlier in China when he got the chance to drive in place of Jarno Trulli in the practice session, he only managed nine laps. With this opportunity he has in Brazil,
it is now imperative for him to show enough improvement and talent to display his true potential.
It will be interesting to see how he performs as his career has had highs and lows, and this is the time he cannot afford to make any mistakes.
In his debut season in GP2, he crashed six times out of the seven races during the season. He has come a long way from that, and is now on the fringes of joining Formula 1 though for now it is almost certain that he will remain destined to race in GP2 for
at least the 2012 season.
