Luis Suarez is ready for a bigger club (Part 1)
Luis Alberto Suarez Diaz was born on 24th January, 1987. Born in Salto, Uruguay, the youngsters was one of the seven siblings his single mother had to take care off. Suarez was a real nuisance in his teenage days, often parting and staying out
late. His mother couldn’t put up with his antics and Suarez was duly given an ultimatum to improve his behaviour. The youngster decided to take up football as a professional career following the incident. Suarez enrolled with Club Nacional de Football, where
he signed his first professional contract.
The youngster played for a single season and managed to win the National Championship in 2006. His 12 goals in 29 league appearances were enough to earn him a move to Europe. The youngster was snapped by Dutch side Groningen for a reported 800,000 Euros
as the striker started his European adventure at just 19 years of age. Suarez played in a further 29 league matches with his new club and scored a decent 10 goals. But it was his impressive play and innate understanding of football that attracted the attention
of bigger clubs.
Ajax Amsterdam has forged itself a reputation for realising young talents at an early age. The club often takes in relative unknowns only to bring out the gem in them. Suarez was no exception as the Dutch Eredivisie giants paid 7.5 million Euros for the
young sensation and brought the striker to Amsterdam Arena. The 7.5 million Euros looked an exorbitant amount but over the next three years, the millions now look a mere bargain.
In his first League match for the club, Suarez scored one goal, assisted in three others and also managed to win a penalty. Such a breathtaking performance meant Ajax demolished De Graafschap by an 8-1 score line. The streak of stunning performances continued
as the striker scored a brace in his home debut and followed that with his first hat-trick of the club against Willem II. In his first season, Suarez managed to score 22 goals in 44 appearances, while also racking up a plethora of assists.
Despite his breathtaking performances, discipline was an issue plaguing the striker as he earned himself a lot of yellow cards. The striker was even suspended on one occasion. Suarez still managed to score 22 league goals in his second season and finished
a close second in the top scorers chart.
Last season, Luis Suarez played like a man possessed. The striker scored four goals on two different occasions, while also netting a couple of hat-tricks. During Ajax’s defeat of WHC in the Dutch cup, Suarez scored an unbelievable six goals, as Ajax routed
the amateur side by a record 14-1 score line. The striker finished the season just like he had begun, scoring 49 goals in 48 appearances. It really can’t get any better than that. The striker scored from impossible of angles, scored long distance scorchers,
while also showing his predatory instincts scoring simple tap-ins.
