Luis Suarez is ready for a bigger club (Part 2)
At a young age of 23, Suarez has already racked up 36 international caps. The forward has formed a lethal striking partnership with equally prodigious Diego Forlan. With Forlan mentoring him like a brother, Suarez made sure he wasn’t a flop at the biggest
stage of football in the world; the FIFA World Cup.
The duo terrorized the defences with their intelligent play and a knack to do the unexpected. With such class acts leading the line, Uruguay made it to the semi-finals where they got knocked out by Netherlands. Suarez however was suspended for the fixture
as he had earned himself a red card for handling the ball in the previous fixture against Ghana. Suarez had stopped a sure shot goal with his intervention. Although Ghana was awarded a penalty, Asamoah missed it and Uruguay eventually won the shootout after
the match finished 1-1 after 120 minutes.
Suarez won the 2010 Dutch Footballer of the year award following his exploits last season. Suarez has scored a breathtaking 108 goals in just 143 appearances for the Amsterdam club. The striker joins the ranks of legendary footballers Marco Van Basten, Johan
Cruyff and Dennis Bergkamp as he crossed the 100 goal monument.
The outrageously talented youngster has already scored 9 goals in just 8 appearances this season. Donning the Captain’s armband ever since Martin Jol took over the coaching role at the club last season, the striker has raised his game to a whole new level.
Suarez managed to nutmeg the legendary Alessandro Nesta and set up a goal in Ajax’s draw against Milan on Tuesday night. The trick was pulled off witch such effortless grace, it made Nesta look like a school kid. It bears testimony to the unlimited confidence
the Uruguayan forward has accumulated over the years. On Current form, there aren’t many strikers better than the Ajax Prodigy.
Suarez’s performances over the years have raised his stocks in tremendous fashion. Where he was signed for 7.5 million Euros, it’s hard to see Ajax letting go of him for anything less than 40 million Euros. His performances at the World Cup and particularly
against Continental giants in UEFA Champions League make it clear that the sensation is ready to further his career with another club. Ajax might have been a prestigious club in the eighties and the early nineties, but the likes of Serie A, La Liga, Barclays
Premier League and even German Bundesliga have left the Eredivise far behind. In terms of coverage, sponsors and level off football, Eredivise lags behind. Suarez knows this fact too well. He has already become too big a player for Ajax to hold on to.
Manchester United, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Chelsea have long been admirers of the striker’s extra-terrestrial abilities. Where Manchester United might back off following the signing of Javier Hernandez, Inter Milan and Chelsea in particular will love
to have Uruguayan on their respective team sheets. It won’t be a surprise if Jose Mourinho brings the prodigy to the Bernabeu to replace the misfiring Karim Benzema. We all know too well how difficult it is to reject a cheque that it being offered by Florentino
Perez.
Ajax Amsterdam will have a long list of suitors lining up outside their office the day they declare the striker available for sale. The striker has proven himself against big names and big teams. He will surely move for greener pastures come next summer
and the hefty price paid for his services will be worth every penny.
