Benfica coach Jorge Jesus has said that although there are many high profile players at the club, Luisao stood out amongst them as the defender is a natural born leader who understands his tactics.

After the Selecao International penned down a new deal, the trainer said that the club had ‘an intelligent policy of renewal’, which allowed them to attract players of the highest caliber and keep them for long spells.
“They are high profile players in Benfica, who are also players with great ability. If we can keep many years at the club, the better,” he said.
Jesus also lavished place on his captain, saying that he not only understood his directions perfectly but is also a very technically gifted player, because of which he is very happy that he signed on.
