The Bayern Munich midfielder has advised his side to stay focussed throughout the course of 90 minutes against Basel in order to stay in the UEFA Champions League.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Basel-c39079 in the second-leg of the UEFA Champions League tie could end Bayern’s hopes of playing the final in their own back yard. Bayern will host the Swiss side on Tuesday, March
13, after falling down 1-0 in the first-leg last month.
The midfielder stressed on the importance of this game and believes that Bayern cannot afford to relax at any stage of the game. He regarded his team favourites against the Swiss opposition especially after drubbing Hoffenheim
at the same venue three days back.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gustavo-c15404 also insists that it is going to be the most important game for Bayern this season and wishes to qualify for the last eight.
While talking to a sports website, Goal.com, the 24-year-old further added:
"It is not only a very difficult game, but also a very important one. We will have to be very focused in order to turn around this tie. We have to deliver a good game from all positions. One mistake can decide everything!”
The Munich giants need to score at least two goals in order to progress further in the competition. At the same time, they need to make sure that Basel do not get any clear cut scoring opportunities to score.
Bayern have been inconsistent since returning from the mid-season break and have not been able to win two successive league games until now. Their last Champions League win came against Villarreal in November last year and Jupp
Heynckes’ men soon need to get their act together if they need to qualify for the quarter-final.
Heynckes troops are currently in contention for the treble this season as they find themselves just five points behind Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and will take on Borussia Monchengladbach in the semi-finals of the German
Cup later this month.
After the game against Basel, Bayern will return to league action against Hertha http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536 on Saturday, March 17 before travelling away to the Borussia-Park on Wednesday, March 21.
