Luiz Rogerio Arapiraca secures Men’s 1500m freestyle gold – Jose Finkel Trophy
Luiz Rogerio Arapiraca of UNISANTA secured gold medal of the Men’s 1500m freestyle on first day of the 2012 Jose Finkel Trophy in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Monday, August 20.
Arapiraca showered his expertise in the distant freestyle event as he stifled hopes of his challengers and stood on the podium for gold medal. With his impeccable pace, he remained slightly ahead of his toughest challenger and transpired on the wall for
first position.
His gruelling pace remained one body length ahead of his opponent as he touched the wall with the timing of 14 minutes and 55.55 seconds for the title.
The gold medallist was followed by Lucas Cruz Kanieski of FIAT/MINAS, who remained 0.80 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing blockade as second position holder by producing a time of 14 minutes and 56.35 seconds.
The silver medallist was trailed by Marcos V Ferrari de Oliveira of FIAT/MINAS,  who stayed nearly 20 seconds slower and secured the podium for bronze medal by clocking a time of 15 minutes and 16.44 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Victor Hugo Ribeiro Colonese of UNISANTA, who stayed 4.43 seconds behind and tapped the wall with an effort of 15 minutes and 20.87 seconds.
Colonese was chased by Samuel de Bona of GNU, who remained almost two and a half body lengths behind and clocked a time of 15 minutes and 23.36 seconds.
Bona was traced by Daniel Acosta Catelan of FFC/RJ, who suffered a loss of 10.20 seconds from his former finisher and secured sixth position of the race with a timing of 15 minutes and 33.56 seconds.
Seventh position of the event was obtained by Luiz Felipe Lebeis of BFR, who remained only 0.14 seconds slower and clocked an effort of 15 minutes and 33.70 seconds.
Lebeis was chased by Brandonn Pierry Cruz de Almeida of CORINTHIANS/ABDEM, who remained considerably slower from his former finisher and clocked an effort of 15 minutes and 36.50 seconds for eighth place.
Arapiraca was extremely pleased with his performance in the thirty-lap freestyle discipline and received medal after the session.
