Luka Modric: Tottenham Hotspur Chairman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Levy threatened me to stay – EPL News
Want-away Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857, has blasted the Spurs Chairman, Daniel Levy, and has stated that the north London club boss ‘threatened’ him to stay at the White Hart Lane.
Luka Modric has been subject of intense transfer speculations, being linked with a move to Tottenham’s local rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. The Croatian midfielder has also expressed his desire to join the Stamford Bridge club.
Chelsea have already made an offer of £22 million which was rejected by the Spurs. The North London side have been firm on their decision to keep hold of their star names despite receiving lucrative offers.
Chairman Daniel Levy held talks with Modric after the Croatian midfielder returned for the pre-season training last week. The Spurs boss revealed that the one-on-one meeting with the Croatian midfielder was very successful and claimed that Modric understands
the situation and is happy to stay at the White Hart Lane.
However, Luka Modric has rubbished Levy’s revelations and has insisted that Levy has presented a “twisted account of what happened’ between them.
"A lot has been published in the press about the meeting with Levy, who gave the public a twisted account of what happened,” the Croatian midfielder revealed.
Modric expressed his disappointment over the way Daniel Levy treated his situation and has revealed that the Spurs Chairman threatened him with demotion from first team if he does not accept the club’s stance.
“I must say that I am genuinely disappointed about what Levy said to me. He threatened me - he said if I didn't accept the club's stance, they would make me sit on the bench or in the stands,” added the 25-year-old playmaker.
Modric has further hinted that he could still leave the north London club and wants to push for a move to Chelsea. The 25-year-old is hopeful that Tottenham Hotspur will understand his situation and will allow him to leave the club.
“I hope that eventually he will understand the situation and that we will reach an agreement and go our separate ways in an appropriate manner,” concluded the Spurs midfielder.
Luka Modric has scored 12 goals in 118 matches for Tottenham Hotspur in the last three seasons.
