The Sevilla central midfielder rejected claims that his compatriot is sluggish by the standards of Jose Mourinho, while hailing Modric as the best player he has played with.
After getting rid of the dead wood in Real Madrid dressing room, Jose Mourinho is concentrating on the Los Blancos squad for the 2012/13 Spanish top flight football season.
The Special One wants to add Tottenham Hotspur star, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857, to his ranks at the Santiago Bernabeu. With the transfer taking longer than expected, it has been attributed to Mourinho’s reluctance in signing the pint-sized midfielder, unimpressed with
reports about his training regimen.
Sevilla star, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ivan-Rakitic-c17333, took out time to reflect on the topic, dismissing suggestions that his compatriot will be unable to handle the tough physical requirements by the Portuguese tactician on the training field.
The former Schalke star remarked that Modric will have no problems adapting to life with the charismatic manager as he is a hard working professional.
Continuing on the topic, Rakitic stated that Modric will be the perfect addition to Real Madrid dressing room with his modest approach. He hailed his compatriot for getting along with people he encounters, stating that alongside his English skills it will
help him adapting to life in the Spanish capital.
"He can adapt perfectly well to what Mourinho asks of him because he's very hard working and a really good lad," the 24-year-old explained.
"He likes talking to other people, he never has any problems with anyone and he speaks excellent English, so I'm convinced he'd adapt in no time."
When quizzed about the role Rakitic expects Modric to play in Real Madrid colours. The midfielder shared that the Croatian Cruyff is at his best when deployed in the holding role alongside another player, while also praising him for his performances as a
trequartista or a traditional playmaker.
"He can play anywhere along the midfield," the former Schalke man noted. "I think he's at his best when he plays in the holding role alongside someone else, but he can also acquit himself well as a No.8 or No.10. He's an extremely versatile footballer."
