Luka Modric’s agent claims the Tottenham Hotspur striker plans to remain at White Hart Lane
Luka Modric’s agent recently denied rumors linking the Tottenham Hotspur striker to a move to Serie A giants, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan. The 25-year-old Croatian midfielder has been crucial in the Spurs’ English Premier League and UEFA Champions League campaigns this
season.
It was his impressive performances that earned interest from top sides like Milan, linking Modric to a move away from White Hart Lane.
However, Modric went on to sign a long term contract deal with the Spurs last summer according to which he is contracted to the London club until the end of the 2015/2016 season.
According to Modric’s agent, Nikki Arthur Vuksan, the Croatian international intends to honour his contract and remain with the Premier League side.
Modric’s agent said while speaking to reporters, “I have read somewhere that an Italian club has been given permission to speak to Luka but that is not correct. It is complete nonsense. Luka has a contract until 2016 which he recently signed. He intends
to see out that contract and does not want to leave Spurs”.
Vuksan revealed his client was looking forward to Champions League football next season. He continued, “If someone comes in for him one day and Spurs decide to accept the offer then that is up to them but Luka is very happy at Spurs. The season is going
great for him there and hopefully he will be playing in the Champions League again next season”.
Modric signed with Tottenham in the 2008 season for a record fee of £16.5 million from Dinamo Zagreb on a six year deal. He got off to an unlucky start, suffering a knee injury early on, which affected his performance for both club and country.
While he was barely used under Juande Ramos, the arrival of Harry Redknapp at White Hart Lane earned him a more permanent role in the team.
Although Modric does not have an impressive goal tally during his three seasons at White Hart Lane, he has put in an overall good performance. In his first season, Modric scored 5 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions. He made 33 appearances and scored
3 goals in the 2009/2010 season despite being out for over five months with a broken leg.
This season he has made 31 appearances so far and has managed to find the back of the net 3 times, all goals coming in crucial matches. The playmaker has been exceptional in Europe as well. He is considered to be important in helping his side reach the quarter-finals
of the European competition.
