Lukas Dlouhy / Paul Hanley oust Marcelo Melo / Bruno Soares
Czech Australian pair of Lukas Dlouhy and Paul Hanley defeated Brazilians Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 in the opening round of the Sony Ericsson Open on Sunday.
Dlouhy and Hanley needed a single break of serve in the opening set, winning it 6-4. The Czech/Australian pair hit a single ace and 81 per cent of the first serves in the opening set. They won 67 per cent of the points on the first
serve. On the other hand, Melo and Soares delivered 57 per cent of the first serves, hitting 82 per cent of the points on them.
After losing the first set, the Brazilians fought back as they broke their opponents once in the second set to win it 6-3. They fired in 3 aces and 70 per cent of the first serves in the second set.
In the match tie-break, Dlouhy and Hanley claimed the late mini-break, winning it 10-8. They hit a single ace and 33 per cent of the first serves in the match tie-break. In comparison, Melo and Soares did not hit any ace. They
fired in 56 per cent of the first serves and converted 80 per cent of them into points.
The Czech Australian pair will meet the Austrian German pair of Jurgen Melzer and Philipp Petzschner in the second round. Melzer and Petzschner defeated Kei Nishikori and Donald Young in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 in the first round.

Americans John Isner and Sam Querrey prevailed over Uruguayan Spanish pair of Pablo Cuevas and Marcel Granollers in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 to move to the second round. It took the Americans 1 hour and 17 minutes to undo their
opponents.
The Americans were broken once in the opening set, losing it 4-6. They hit 2 aces and 72 per cent of the first serves in the first set. Isner and Querrey saved 2 of the 3 break points they faced in the opening set.
The Americans fought back as they broke their opponents in the ninth game of the second set to claim it 6-4. They delivered 64 per cent of the first serves in the second set, winning 72 per cent of the points on them.
In the match tie-break, Isner and Querrey clinched two mini-breaks, winning it 10-7. The Americans kept their first serve percentage at 78 per cent and converted 100 per cent of the first serves into points.
Isner and Querrey will face the Swedish Romanian pair of Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau in the second round. The Swedish/Romanian pair beat Simon Aspelin and Julian Knowles 6-2, 6-2 in the first round.
