Lukas Lacko, Slovakian world No.133, outplayed his second round challenger of Slovak Open 2011, Jan Hajek, Czech world No.141, beating him down in straight set 7-6(4), 6-2, in an hour and 21 minutes hard indoor court match on Thursday,
17th of November 2011.
Ranked pretty close to each other, Hajek did put up a strong competition in the first set; however, the second set was mustered away by the Slovakian world No.133. Anyhow, the two entered the blue circuit with a handful of spectators
cheering for their respective favourite. Warming up the two took their sides to open up the fixture.
Starting off with the fixture, Lacko took his side to serve the first game of the match. Slovakian almost lost his first service game, however, managed to bag the game rolling down the scoreboard, 1-0. Following the higher ranked
24-year-old, Hajek served out his opening serve and levelled up right away, 1-1.
Rallying down games the two evened up at 2-2, 3-3, and 4-4 and then on 5-5 winning games on respective serves. One win each for the two sent the set into a crucial tiebreak decider with Lacko to serve first. Swirling away with
the first four points, Lacko pulled off in the lead and finished off the tiebreaker winning, 7-4, and the set, 7-6(4) to lead the match, 1-0.
Hajek continued with the second set, serving out the set opener with a double game point winner and rolling down the scoreboard, 1-0. However, Lacko struck back right away winning his set opening serve, 1-1. The game twisted when,
in game three, Czech world No.141 served his second game of the set and broke down.
Winning the breakpoint, the 24-year-old Slovakian took advantage and served out game four to lead the set, 3-1. Lacko went spectacular when he broke the lower ranked Czech for the second time in three games, however, went down
right away losing on his serve next, 4-2.
With two more games left to finish off the second set and the fixture, Lacko broke the Czech for the third time in the set, 5-2, and served out game eight to conclude the set, 6-2, and the match in straight sets. Statistically,
Lacko pulled through an amazing 44 service points and 28 returners totalling 72 points against 62 of Hajek to bag the match.
Making his way into the quarter-final of the ATP Challenger Tour event, Lacko will now face the seventh seed of the tour, Michael Berrer, for the semi-final spot at Slovak Open 2011.
