The FC Koln striker has reiterated his desire to leave the RheinEnergieStadion at the end of this season following his club’s inconsistent run in the Bundesliga.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lukas-Podolski-c22896 has expressed his desire to part ways with FC Koln at the end of this season after the recent run of poor results. The Billy Goats have only been able to win one of their last five games in the Bundesliga which has
diminished their chances of qualifying for Europe. Koln also lost their last league game at home to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485, hence, sliding down to as low as 12th spot on the league table.
The former Bayern Munich star mentioned that the Koln officials assured him of a good season this term which has so far not been the case. He stated that the side has been highly inconsistent during the course of the season and
have performed poorly at home. The German international is unhappy with the current proceedings, and wants a way out of the club in order to win silverware on a consistent basis.
While talking to sports website, Bild.com, the 26-year-old attacker further added:
"I was told that the club wanted to build a team around me that would be among the top eight in the league before then establishing itself in the top six. And I committed myself to the move [to Koln] because I wanted to be a part
of that project.”
Podolski reckons that the club has failed to achieve its objectives and, as a result, are once again fighting to stay in the top division. He opined that it is extremely disappointing to walk alone once you are fully committed
to the cause and giving your one hundred percent.
"If you look at the proposals that were shown to me and what has ultimately come out of them - it is very disappointing. You try every year to move forward but we never get anything other than a relegation battle, which is bitter,”
Podolski concluded.
Koln are currently 12th on the league standings with 24 points from 21 games, and will next be in action against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FC-Nuremberg-c38162 at the easyCredit-Stadion on Saturday, February 18.
