Lukas Podolski uncertain about his career at RheinEnergieStadion - Bundesliga News
FC Koln winger http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lukas-Podolski-c22896 recently revealed of his uncertain future at RheinEnergieStadion. The player also wished to play in the Champions League with Koln next season else he would consider a move out of the club.
Podolski told that he doesn’t have any problems currently at the club and is happy to be playing under Stale Solbakken. The winger’s contract is due to expire in 2013 but the player would be happy to extend his deal if the club manages to qualify for Europe,
this season or the next.
Koln officials, on the other hand, reserved praise for the German international, saying that the player has been a loyal servant of the club. The manager stated his desire to retain Podolski beyond June 2013 when the player becomes ineligible to play for
the Billy Goats.
However, it is believed that the former Bayern Munich man could be on his bike at the end of current 2011/12 campaign. The club have revealed some financial and sporting problems which might force the player to part ways with the RheinEnergieStadion outfit.
While telling Express about his future plans, the 26-year-old added, "I can jump to no conclusions about my future. I have always stressed that my future is open and said that I will have to wait and see about the state of the club's sporting situation.”
He also enthused, "I am pleased that things are going so well for me, but I also know that football is a daily business."
Koln manager Stale Solbakken, in the mean time, reinstated his desire of retaining the German veteran for his attacking instincts and quality in front of goal. He also compared Podolski with Barcelona’s wonderkid, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296.
Solbakken was of the view that the winger only needs to stay consistent and he could certainly match the qualities of Messi.
"Lukas is perhaps the Bundesliga's best player," the trainer told Bild. "Barcelona are not http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 without Messi. Koln are not Koln without Poldi."
Podolski has already scored eight goals this season from 10 league games and will next be seen in action on Saturday, November 5, against Werder Bremen.
