Lukas Podolski unhappy with crash investigation - Germany News
FC Koln striker and Germany international, Lukas Podolski, has shown dissatisfaction at the crash investigation being done against him. He also showed concerns over the accusations made by the afectees that Podolski took the matter lightly.
Podolski was involved in a car accident as he crashed his Mercedes into a Peugeot carrying three members of the same family. The driver and his daughter were hurt and were taken to a nearby hospital by the ambulance.
The driver later accused Podolski for not showing compassion. He urged the police department to start an investigation against the striker who never really came back to enquire about their health.
He further asked Podolski to apologise for the incident which has caused serious bruises to his daughter’s neck. The driver also complained of neck pain, though it's not as serious as his daughter’s.
However, Podolski disagreed with the driver’s comments, saying that he immediately tried to contact the family through phone but nobody answered at first. The second time, it was the mother who received the phone, who assured him of the couple’s health.
While talking to Koln-Star, the 26-year-old further enthused:
"I immediately tried to contact the family by telephone in the afternoon. Unfortunately, I could not reach anyone. In the evening, I was able to speak with the mother. I asked about the health of the family and apologised for the collision. I told the mother
that I will immediately look for a quick and smooth claims settlement."
Podolski admitted his mistake and made himself available to bear all financial losses.
He also reserved concerns at the driver’s accusation despite making all efforts to help the family in best possible manner.
"Now I have the impression that the public has more interest in the family than the actual accident." Podolski concluded.
