The FC Koln striker has stated his desire of moving abroad if he parts company with the Billy Goats at the end of the 2011/12 campaign.
Podolski has been in supreme form this season and has already netted 14 league goals in just 15 appearances, compared to the last term where he managed only 13 strikes from 32 games.
The striker has recently been linked with a move away from the club once the current season expires. It is believed that Koln’s Bundesliga rivals, Schalke, are interested in acquiring his services.
However, the player has already signalled his intentions of moving abroad if he is to leave at the end of this term. He has ruled out a move within the country in order to prove his critics wrong, who believe that the German will
be a failure outside the peninsula.
While addressing Bild, the in-form striker further mentioned:
"It annoys me that some people think I can only perform at Koln and only when I live in this city. That gets on my nerves. They claim something that is simply not right. I can also feel well and perform at my best in other surroundings."
Podolski’s contract at the Rhein Energie Stadion is set to expire at the end of the 2012/13 season and the club have not offered him an extension as yet. The attacker is reportedly being monitored by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and Real Madrid while
Premier League club Arsenal also seem to be interested in his acquisition.
Having spent two years at the club since rejoining them in 2009, the striker wishes to honour his contract despite rumours of his departure next summer.
"Moving to another club within the Bundesliga is something I can hardly imagine. If I decide to leave Koln, it will be to move abroad.” He concluded.
