Lukasz Fabianski harmonious at Arsenal despite criticism
Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has said that he feels confident at the club, despite being criticized for turning in inconsistent performances for Arsene Wenger's team.
Fabianski, who joined Arsenal from Legia Warszawa in 2007, has made ten starting appearances for Wenger this season as a result of first-choice keeper Manuel Almunia's injury problems.
After letting in a simple shot from Tottenham's Robbie Keane in the league cup, the Pole turned in a solid performance against FK Partizan in the Champions League and made a crucial save from Luiz Adriano's shot in Arsenal's European encounter with Shakhtar
Donetsk on Tuesday, 19 October.
"Arsenal is such a massive club, there [is] always going to be talk like that," the 25-year-old said about the scrutiny he faces. "You can never run away from that. For me the main thing was always to keep working hard and improving and when there is a possibility
to play, I am ready and to play the best I can. That is the only thing I can do."
Fabianski also insisted that rather than being depleted by the criticism, he is in good form after making consistent appearances in the Premier League and in Europe.
"To be honest I feel really confident on the pitch. I’m happy that at the moment, I have had a small run of four games in a row. It is always good for a keeper that he plays and then hopefully I can maintain that."
Walcott and Fabregas fit to face Manchester City
Arsenal travel to face Manchester City in a challenging league encounter on Sunday, 24 October, in which captain Cesc Fabregas, who returned against Shakhtar, and Theo Walcott are likely to feature after being sidelined with injuries.
"We are all happy that they are fit again. They give us such a massive boost. The squad is growing in numbers and hopefully the next players will be fit soon again."
