Lukasz Fabianski still believes Arsenal can capture title
Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has stated the Gunners still believe they can win the Premier League, despite their defeat to Chelsea on Sunday. The Pole stubbornly declared:, "For
sure we will be chasing that title and I'm sure we won't give up. I hope we can come back stronger in the next games."
Fabianski himself enjoyed a decent game at Stamford Bridge, but the Gunners were undone again by their inability to turn their possession into goals, despite some good chances. Fabianski
claimed, "I think it is disappointing for us, because looking at the game and the situations we created, I think we deserved at least one or two goals. It was a tough game, a bad result for us, but we have to look forward to the next few games.”
Although his side succumbed to a second successive Premier League defeat, leaving them seven points off leaders Chelsea, Fabianski was pleased with his personal performance against the
Blues. The much-derived goalkeeper is known for his howlers more than anything, but he will have gained plenty of confidence from his two outings last week, at Partizan Belgrade and then Chelsea.
Much is made of Arsenal’s goalkeeping situation, with many believing that it could potentially be the main difference to winning trophies this season. Fabianski and Manuel Almunia are
currently battling it out for the No.1 jersey, with Almunia still leading the race, despite a few recent shaky displays.
Anymore poor performances from the Spaniard could lead to Fabianski given his first real run in the side. Perhaps with a little game-time, and with some much needed confidence, Arsenal
could see a very good keeper emerge. Arsene Wenger certainly rates his young stopper, but it’s high time the Pole started to repay that faith.
