Lukasz Kubot dumps Gabriel Moraru to clear the opening round – BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy 2012
World number 51, Lukasz Kubot of Poland, cleared the first round hindrance at the BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy by disposing of the 30-year-old local wildcard entrant, Gabriel Moraru, on Monday. The seventh seed Pole wrapped up victory
in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, to reach the round of 16 at the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) World Tour 250 event.
Moraru hung in the contest for one hour and 32 minutes before suffering the humiliating defeat in from of his home crowd. He proved to be total mismatch to the fury of the 51st rank Pole contender, who registered his
9th victory of the running ATP season. Kubot was facing Moraru for the first time in his professional career and wasted no time in getting the better of his opponent’s game to drive him out of the tournament in a dominating manner.
Kubot’s 67 per cent precise included four double faults and six thudding aces, while he secured 27 out of 40 first serve points to come out as the winner in the end. He crafted 11 break opportunities in the contest and cashed on
five of these chances, edging past his inferior-ranked opponent authoritatively.
 The match took off with three serve breaks right up and Kubot attained a 2-1 lead early. He held his serve in the next game and then nailed his third successive break of serve to race away to 5-1 in no time. Moraru couldn’t retaliate
to the all-round onslaught from the seventh seeded Pole contender and had no option but to submit the first set at 2-6 to train 0-1.
The seventh seed carried on with his belligerence in the following set as well, breaking the Romanian serve in the third game to get 2-1 up, followed by a regular game to take the scores to 5-3. He nailed the decisive serve break
in the ninth game to close out the set at 6-3, concluding a comprehensive straight sets victory.
Kubot will either face Marius Copil of Romania or the unseeded German, Tobias Kamke, in the second round draw of BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy. Copil and Kamke will play their first round matchup on Tuesday afternoon.
